He is past President of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and is active in the Association of Sexual Energy Professionals. Barnaby has taught clinical and somatic psychology as a Professor in universities all over North America—both traditional (e.g., University of Michigan) and nontraditional or visionary (e.g., Pacifica Graduate Institute).
For many years, he was Professor of Family Medicine, Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences at Wayne State University. He has practiced psychodynamic psychotherapy as well as other healing modalities (meditation, yoga, massage, body dialogue) for over three decades.
