Kat McIver, Ph.D., R.E.A.T. is a working ceramic artist at Odyssey Ceramic Center for the Arts in Asheville NC, and offers workshops and individual sessions in Expressive Arts/Spiritual Guidance/Supervision, both in person and online through Skype.  She has shown her work in various galleries and cities in: New Zealand, California, and North Carolina.

Kat’s academic background includes a Masters in Spirituality from the Institute of Culture and Creation Spirituality at Holy Names College, in Oakland CA, and a Ph.D. in Transpersonal Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto CA, with an emphasis on creativity and spiritual guidance. She is registered with the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association as an Expressive Arts Therapist.

 

For the last 15 years, Kat has been a mentor/adjunct faculty and/or taught, at numerous universities including:  the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, Naropa University, University of Creation Spirituality, Wisdom University, Prescott College, The Interfaith Theological Seminary, and Appalachian State University – all in the field of transpersonal psychology, creativity and innovation, and expressive arts.  Her dissertation, “Spirit into Form, Clay as a Spiritual Practice”, used heuristic, organic, and art-based research with a feminist perspective. 

 

Kat’s heart-centered work with individuals is designed to help: awaken creativity, connect to the soul, deepen academic passions, and facilitate growth in the individual’s chosen transpersonal field, as well as life in general.

 

She continues to explore her own personal spiritual journey through ceramics and mixed media. She has a passion for the spiritual journey and is a life-long learner.  Influential teachers along the way have been, Natalie Rogers, Brugh Joy, and Gangaji, among others. Her work has a person-centered approach, with a Jungian perspective and acknowledges both the non-dual and evolutionary perspectives of spiritual growth.

She has studied energy healing with the Nurses Association Healing Touch program,  is a 2nd level Reike practitioner, and has a certificate in massage therapy.  She is also now apprenticing in the Pachakunti Peruvian tradition of shamanism, and is a Mesa Carrier within the tradition.
